PERSONAL WORK

Childhood

According to UNICEF, childhood is the time for children to be in school and at play, to grow strong and confident with the love and encouragement of their family and an extended community of caring adults. It is a precious time in which children should live free from fear, safe from violence and protected from abuse and exploitation. As such, childhood means much more than just the space between birth and the attainment of adulthood. It refers to the state and condition of a child’s life, to the quality of those years.

I thinks as parents our most important mission is to protect their right to a childhood.

Brighton Seafront

I am playing around with double exposure photography lately, and took those on a walk at sunset along Brighton seafront the other day.  I am thinking the greatest medium for those in the future would be to shoot on film, but for the time being I am practicing on my digital cam. Those are shot with my dad's old Nikkor lens from the 1960s, it has this gorgeous vintage look.  I try to think about the light and dark values of the first exposure when I take the second one. I also love playing with changing the aspect on each exposure (like taking the second exposure upside down per example), this adds to the outer-worldly look that I'm going for.

Black Lives Matter Protest, Brighton

'Race' is a social construct that has far too long served humanity the excuse to suppress other cultures and their people. Colonialism is long gone, so how is it that the barbaric ideologies it had brought along are still reigning today? It is well overdue for us white people to bring our awareness to the fact  that still today whiteness is automatically considered the 'norm'. Those ways of thinking are best challenged by engaging in friendly conversations and looking into our world's sociological and cultural history. I believe public discourse creates awareness, and awareness is key to any true inner growth,

Midnight Walk

Midnight walk through the wilderness.. I love creating my effects in camera. Double exposures are a really nice way to create some surreal and different portraits. I visualise the first exposure in my mind to overlay it with the second one. It never comes out exactly as I imagine, and that's the beauty of it ;)

Extinction Rebellion Mother's March, London

Climate change is probably the biggest issue we face today (and tomorrow). Change begins with consciousness, consciousness is a product of communication. If we can get together and speak up about this issue we might be able to spark a friendly conversation about how to address this mess in a manner that is realistic and palpable. As an individual it begins with the small things we can change in our daily lives, as a whole it begins with communication.

Penang. Malaysia

Impressions of Penang, a vibrant multicultural city on an island in Malaysia. The people are friendly, the street art is exceptional and the food.. oh the food..

A Day & A Night in the Dam

Impressions of Amsterdam, Netherlands, one of my favourite cities in Europe.

Frost

On this gorgeous frosty morning in the Uk I just couldn't resist throwing my furry boots and coat on to go outside and capture some of the sparkly magic.
